Zoo shares adorable video of 'world's deadliest super cats'

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is currently home to two exceptional hunters, Arwen and Sawyer, who are black-footed cats with an impressive 60% hunting success rate. The addition of a male, Ryder, and a female, Skyler, has led to the zoo being dubbed as the new residence of the “world’s deadliest super cats” by the Smithsonian.

In order to ensure safety and proper feeding practices, wildlife care specialist Chelsea Davis explains that the staff works to prevent the cats from associating human hands with food, while also maintaining a respectful distance during feeding time.

Despite their small size, these cats are among the best hunters in the feline world. When fully grown, Ryder and Skyler will only reach 2 to 3 pounds in weight, making them among the smallest cats in the world. Native to Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa, black-footed cats have voracious appetites, with one cat capable of consuming up to 14 rodents and birds in a single night, far surpassing the hunting success rate of lions, who only catch their prey 25% of the time.
