Chloe’s story is a testament to the saying that hope is the final straw to hang on to. It emphasizes the idea that no matter how dire things may appear, one should never lose faith in a positive outcome.
The story of Chloe, a kitten born in San Francisco with paralysis in her hind legs, was truly touching. It was heartwarming to see how Hannah Shaw, who is known as Kitten Lady on social media and works at an animal shelter, rescued and rehabilitated Chloe. Their story left a lasting impression on us.
When Chloe first arrived at the shelter, she was assigned to a caregiver who was surprised by her condition. The temporary owner had no experience with paralyzed cats and expressed her concerns, but didn’t let it discourage her. She decided to take on the challenge of helping Chloe overcome her disability.
It is uncertain what led to Chloe’s deficiency in this situation. Nevertheless, dogs and cats can also have conditions that alter their skeletal, muscular, and organ development, much like humans. Hip dysplasia or ataxia, which impacts motor coordination, are some of the diseases they may suffer from.
In a span of three months, Chloe’s foster parent took her to 30 veterinary appointments to explore the best rehabilitation methods. The veterinarian shared that they focused on strengthening Chloe’s muscles and administering physiological treatments to enhance her movement. The vet also mentioned being impressed with Chloe’s unique style of moving.
Chloe’s owners’ persistence and commitment eventually paid off as the little feline was able to stand on her hind legs. Not only that, but Chloe also developed her own distinctive way of moving around her home, scaling furniture and bounding up staircases. Although some may mistake her for an unwell animal, Chloe’s demeanor and playful antics prove that she is a thriving and lively kitten.
