After being born with unstable feet, a kitten transformed into a lively ball of energy shortly after departing from the shelter.
Figaro, a tiny 6-week-old kitten, was discovered as an unfortunate orphan and was taken in by the Animal Care Centers of NYC. Due to his young age, he had difficulty walking on his own and had not yet learned how to eat independently. The staff at the center began feeding him through a syringe, to which he responded well. However, they realized that this little furball would require a foster home with a loving caregiver. Consequently, they reached out to Little Wanderers NYC, an organization comprised of all-volunteer rescuers, for assistance. The volunteers from Little Wanderers NYC were quick to act and arranged for Figaro to be placed in a warm and nurturing home, where he would receive non-stop attention and care.
Little Wanderers NYC informed Love Meow that a kitten they have named Figaro is suffering from cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) or “wobbly kitten syndrome.” This condition affects the kitten’s coordination and fine motor skills, but he remains healthy, content, and free of pain. Ashley, who fosters for Little Wanderers NYC, has welcomed Figaro into her care with warmth and love.
Little Wanderers in NYC shared an update on Figaro, a recent shelter resident. Within just ten hours of arriving at their facility, Figaro was already eating like a pro. Ashley, one of the caretakers, offered him canned food and initially hand-fed him. Now, she simply holds the food up to his face and he eagerly eats on his own. Figaro is also enjoying his new environment and seems curious about all the new things around him. He particularly loves the cozy nursery where he can move around and play safely.
He developed a strong sense of inquisitiveness and began experimenting with toys from Little Wanderers NYC. After a brief period, he became engrossed with a ball toy and began requesting attention and cuddles from his foster parent. Figaro enthusiastically explored his new surroundings and engaged with anything within reach. Despite the numerous blankets scattered around him, he eventually dozed off while playing with his toys.
While playing with his toys, Figaro dozed off on them. Despite facing challenges in drinking liquids and using the litter box, he is very persistent and not willing to give up. The team at Little Wanderers NYC has noticed his enthusiasm for digging in the litter and he is doing well with using the litter box, even though he may be unsteady at times. But, Figaro doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and keeps pushing forward.
