The nurse at the clinic reached out to animal rights activists via social media, seeking help for a kitten in need. One of the volunteers from Foster Kittens Of Melbourne, Cass, immediately responded and offered to take the kitten in. After a long journey lasting 2.5 hours, the kitten was safely delivered to Cass’ care. Despite his poor health, the feline was happy and energetic upon arrival. His eyes were swollen, red, and covered in crust, but he showed no signs of discomfort. He had been transported inside a hat, which served as an impromptu carrier, and was moving around freely.

Cass and her partner created a cozy haven inside the playpen for the kitten and began nurturing it with syringe feedings every hour. The tiny feline was so appreciative that it eagerly accepted all of its medication and eye drops without complaint. The couple observed with delight as the kitten contentedly dozed off with a full stomach, surrounded by comfort and affection.

The man’s positive attitude was surprising, despite him having painful eyes and going through a lot of stress before reaching the vet’s office. After a few days, the couple started noticing some unusual things about the little miracle.

According to Kass, the kitten did not react to any sounds, had severely misshapen joints, was very lethargic, and had an irregular growth pattern. Upon examination, it was discovered that the kitten had dysplasia in both the elbows and hip joints of all four of its legs, as well as a mild case of swimmer’s syndrome in its hind legs. Although the kitten is deaf, it communicates effectively in its own unique way.

Thanks to the hard work of caretakers and the support of animal rights advocates, Malaya had the perfect conditions to thrive. Despite his deafness, he maintains a sunny disposition and takes joy in simple pleasures. Kass reports that Malaya enjoys playing with other cats and happily runs and explores his surroundings. His unique way of communicating endears him to all who know him.
