The dogs’ shared abode spans approximately 200 square meters and can be found in Phuoc Hoa ward, located on the outskirts of Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa. It sits along a path that passes by the shrimp and fish farms of Dong Ro residents. For the last half-decade, Ho Phuong Ca, a 31-year-old caregiver, has been tending to the dogs’ needs. He spends his days walking them, tending to their injuries, treating scabies, administering vaccines, and performing sterilization procedures. Despite facing various challenges, Ca is dedicated to ensuring that each dog receives personalized care and attention.
According to Phuong Ca, the Fang Ca dog pack consists of 52 dogs with different names and backgrounds. Some of them were rescued from dangerous situations, while others are stray dogs that need care and attention. Additionally, around 20 dogs belong to nearby residents who cannot take proper care of them and often come to the pack for help.
Phuong Ca shared her love for dogs and how she got involved in rescuing them. In 2016, a group of animal lovers in Nha Trang City came together to rescue dogs from a slaughterhouse. Although they only managed to save 50 dogs due to a lack of funds, Phuong Ca fell in love with them and has been caring for them ever since. She named the dogs and treated them like family, which is why they now hold a special place in her heart.
One dog, Lola, was rescued after being thrown into a sack infected with ticks and fleas. Another one, May, was dumped in a landfill and had epilepsy. Despite their health issues, Phuong Ca took them in and gave them a home. She also took care of a pack of 14 fluffy dogs whose owner passed away, and no one else could look after them.
In summary, Phuong Ca’s love for dogs has led her to create a pack of 52 dogs with unique stories. Her passion for rescuing them from dangerous situations and providing them with a loving home has made her an inspiration to animal lovers everywhere.
Phuong Ca, who took in a group of poodles from her neighbors, faces challenges when it comes to caring for them. Despite having been infected with dog flukes and experiencing skin allergies, Phuong Ca takes the responsibility of feeding the dogs twice a day, even during adverse weather conditions that require her to travel by canoe. The cost of vaccination and treatment is also a concern for her, along with maintaining hygiene in the breeding facility. To address these concerns, she has borrowed money from relatives to purchase a crematorium while also relying on her own funds to buy food for the dogs. Phuong Ca shared that she usually cooks rice and vegetables, costing nearly 400,000 VND, with support from friends who love dogs.
Phuong Ca is known for raising a large group of dogs and is frequently approached by people looking to adopt dogs. She makes sure to have honest conversations with potential adopters to ensure they are both loving and responsible. However, Fang Ca has become hesitant to give dogs away after one family she gave a beautiful dog to couldn’t be found a few months later when she came to visit. Tung Lam, a resident of Nha Trang City who appreciates Phuong Ca’s work, loves that she not only takes care of dogs but also handles their vaccinations and manages their deaths. Local resident Tuong Vi shared that Phuong Ca advises many families on proper dog care and hygiene practices such as muzzling dogs when outside and keeping them clean.
Phuong Ca is actively promoting the development of a green and clean community by doing simple yet meaningful actions. With a love for animals, especially dogs, she is playing her part in spreading awareness about the importance of taking responsibility for our living environment. One heart-warming example of this is her practice of wrapping dogs in Phuong Ca.
